Loving Your Unique Body

Loving Your Unique Body

The poet Mary Oliver said, “Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”

As we figure out what that means for us, and sometimes it’s a life’s work to figure it out, I believe it’s important to take care of ourselves, so that we discover what our lives mean to us.

There’s a reason why you are here, and you are supposed to be here.

This message is particularly important as we emerge from the pandemic.  Many of us may be feeling worse than we ever did before, and let’s be honest- many of us act like the biggest jackasses to ourselves and our bodies.  And often times, secretly.

It’s okay to feel badly.  Because in absolute truth, we all do.  What if one’s awakening is about awakening to ourselves, our true power from within?   Sometimes during the process of our awakening, we feel a lot of stuff, and sometimes it feels really badly.  And we feel lonely, sad, and ask ourselves- What’s the point??  But no emotion lasts forever.

Because this is the truth.  YOU are a gift to the world.  There’s a reason why you are here.

And in order to find out what that is and work towards our true happiness, we have to ride the ups and downs in our lives.  Understanding anyone is hard, and understanding ourselves is even harder!  But what if it’s through understanding ourselves, and being more kind than mean to ourselves, that allows us to deliver our gift to the world?  What if YOUR BODY, the vessel that always carries you, whether you are kind or a jackass, is the best friend you never knew you had?
